BG Renderer Errors

BG Render fails
The most common reason BG Renders fail is because of illegal characters in the project file name or path. BG Renderer works in Unix on mac and Dos on windows which have reserved characters such as: / : ; * ? ” <> | among others so if your render is failing check the path for anything that might look out of the ordinary including foreign characters and accented letters.

“BG_Renderer_temp_file.term” couldn´t open because it is damaged
Apple changed the way Terminal windows are saved in the latest 10.5 upgrade. If you get the “BG_Renderer_temp_file.term” couldn´t open because it is damaged error the fix is to go into the Settings tab in the Preferences in Terminal and select all the BG_Renderer_temp_file.term shells and hit the – (minus) button at the bottom to delete them. Things should start working again. Apparently Terminal stores all the shells now and it must reach some limit. There is no other impact to Terminal’s performance.

If the error persists after doing this, you will need to delete the Terminal preferences file which is located in your user Library file: ~/Library/Preferences/ The file is called: com.apple.Terminal.plist
Quit Terminal first and move the plist file to the trash.
Finally, version 1.6 of BG Renderer changed the way it writes the temporary Terminal file so you should not see this error anymore. For this reason alone, upgrading to the latest version is highly advised. http://aescripts.com/bg-renderer
