Sooo, how do you create those transitions?

Hey. 

You can go into the assets folder and take your pick from the PX_01 to 50 comps. Drag them out to the comp, and position and scale them however you want to completely cover the background. Simple as that. Don't forget to turn on continuous rasterization.

If you want to make things more interesting, add another layer PX-comps 9from a different folder) in the exact same location. This time use only black and white as colors and use them as luma mattes for the layer or comp you want to reveal.
