Hi David,

This is a great script. I have one feature request if possible. I would love to export the video file names in a composition with In and Out frame numbers starting at 0 into a spreadsheet. I use this information to track in mocha and SynthEyes on an almost daily basis. I currently use this script for the filenames and then I type the frame numbers in manually.

So, basically it's a an EDL. EDLs and XMLs use timecode whereas most VFX artists use frames.

Looking forward to your overhaul.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Erik,To answer the last part of your question, yes, you can change and import text from outside After Effects via scripting and/or expressions. Harry Frank has an old tutorial around about using expressions for this, but I don't know the link off hand. Try Googling for it. As far as the first part of your question, I am actually in the process of a major overhaul on AE ProjectI.L.E. I will be giving a serious amount of access to lots of project information. Text layers are included in this as well as the source text used in those layers. It will be awhile before I get it into a beta ready phase as I started work on it only a few weeks ago, but I am pushing to get it ready for a 2011 release barring any serious issues. :)

Hi, i was just wondering if it is also possible to export the text layer content in the compositions with this script.

so that i can get a external .txt/excel file with the compositions and the texts layer that are in them.

i basically want to change text outside after effects. is this even possible with text layers?
if so, and its not included in this script, can you perhaps make it for me in the future (email me your expected hours/rate please)

Sorry Meloon, there is no built-in option for that as far as I am aware of. Scripting does however offer a method to listen for keyboard events. I haven't played with those yet, but it might be possible to have it listen for the "Save" shortcut keys I imagine.

Glad to hear it is coming in handy for your work. :)

Hi,
I was wondering if after effects had a feature to automatically launch scripts on save.
Like the Startup folder, it will be very handy to launch your script while saving a project.

Anyway, great script, it saves times, and useful when you don't have time to open a project.

cheers
