Tutorial Video

Install

  •  To Install the script, put it in the ScriptUI Panels folder of After Effects. Next, open After Effects (CS4 or newer.)
  •  To launch the script, go to “Window” and scroll down until you see “Reflect.jsxbin” at the bottom of the menu. Click on it.

 Setup (automatic)

  •  In order to set up the scene, simply create a new composition and click the “Build Scene” button from the Reflect UI panel.
  •  To create the reflection, Highlight your comp in the project panel, and click the “Reflect” button from the Reflect UI panel.
  •  A reflection comp will now be inside of your comp.  You may need to drag it above your floor to see it.

 Setup (manual)

  •  If you want to set up the scene manually, inside AE create a new comp.  Make a new solid called “Floor” with a capital “F” and make sure it is the same size as the comp.  Rotate the Floor 90 degrees on the X axis.
  •  Next, make a new camera and a new Null.  Make the Null 3d and parent the camera to it.
  •  Highlight your comp in the project panel, and click the “Reflect” button from the Reflect UI panel.
  •  A reflection comp will now be inside of your comp.  You may need to drag it above your floor to see it.

 Omitting Reflections

  •  If you do not want to reflect a layer, simply add a marker to it by highlighting it and pressing * on the keyboard.

 Updating Reflections

  •  If you make a change to your main comp and you want to update the reflection, simply click the Update button on the script panel.

*** Please note: Only layers that are 3d will be reflected.
