Gaussian Splatting
  • I have been using the plug-in on a few scenes. It has great functionality,  but recently I noticed that the image quality if far less than the original. It appears lower resolution as if there is some "painting filter" applied to it. The image on the left (Irrealix) is the default setting in After Effects. Is there some set-up that I am missing?

    Change project Depth from 8bit to 16 or 32.
  • This is an amazing plug-in thank you. How can you get the camera close to the particles or splats, I notice the camera clips model when getting close, is there a setting somewhere I can turn this off to give the ability to fly through the particles or model, for example if I have the splat size set to 1.

    Will add camera clipping planes for you.
  • Just starting with the trial on this and love it......one thing before i buy it, Just wondering if there's a better way to get depth of field working. 

    Presumably I have to render out the depth matte and then re-import and use camera lens blur to achieve the effect or is there another approach?

    Currently it is the only way. Later probably we will try to add DOF

  • Is there a way to have the splats interact with Lights in After Effects?
  • I keep getting errors like failed to load model "file doesn't contain gaussian splats. required 3 scale components but have 0' 

    I am getting this or a similar error with .PLY files both generated with polycam and Luma. Any idea why? I was able to view the ply file in both meshlabs and blender.

  • Hi will this plugin work with files exported from Postshot? If so are there specific settings I should follow in postshot for best results? Btw this plugin works amazingly well I’m just having such long wait times from Luma and looking for alternatives. Thanks!

    It work with postshot’s exports just fine.
  • hi there ! question about z-depth. I see I'm able to export a z depth file. but what type of file is that? no extension to it!

    Export button, exports all models in scene to single ply file. if no extension in dialog you should add an extension by yourself (.ply)
    z-depth is an option to compose with other 3d objects.

    I've been trying to get a 3D camera from other software to work with this. BAsically, the issue is that the splat inside the 3D software appears in a different position to the .ply file in after effects. It's also upside down, rotated, etc. I'm making the camera in houdini (because I can open a .ply point cloud there), then exporting camera to cinema 4d, then into after effects (roundabout way, but I can't get a camera directly from houdini to afx).

    Any ideas how I can get this working? I've seen videos where a camera track and splat can be matched up, so surely it's possible!
