Hi Sebastien. I think this script has a great deal of potential! There's allot of cool features here, way beyond what I would have imagined. However, I think its missing the most vital component.. the script itself. As a storyboard artist, It's critical to have the visuals in sync with the actual dialogue/description.
Considering you already have markers which divide the script into lines of dialogue, please add the ability of importing a script, or action notes as well.
Importing a dialogue script text or meta data as a subtitle layer would be ideal. (with the ability to alter their position) Adobe Premiere's analyze content has some interesting functionality which can convert a text script and audio file to meta data.. Also the ability to create image placeholders which load images of the same naming convention in their proper location, could be a great time saver as well.
Looking forward to seeing how far this can be taken!
I'm actually working on automating the image file load if you define their location and follow some conventions. It should be released in a dot update around august if everything goes according to plan.
I can add the lines of action in markers as well if you need to, should be pretty easy and could be included in the next dot update. I could create a subtitle layer too, but that will take some extra time as I need to figure out how to make sure the whole text is always visible. But that's definitly on my radar.
Thanks for feedback !
Cheers,
PS: If you have a prefered naming convention, or folder organisation, feel free to share
My naming conventions are fairly lean and Logical as possible because of the large amount of info, ....If you have an email address, I could send you structure examples of what worked for me.
I really love the shot designer app from hollywood camera work because it is so intuitve and easy to block out shots and even do simple animations. But right now you can only export pdfs or jpgs out of it without the animation. It would be so great if we could export those animations and bring them into afx and link them to the movie-script with your script. Maybe you could contact them and figure out if that would be possible.
Would it be possible to add the option to overlay the dialog onto the comp? Much like subtitles (maybe even tint the text in the corresponding color which was set in Story for the individual Charakters; alternatively it could be the outline-color of the text which might be a lot more subtile and easier to read) This way it would be easier to time animatics or plan an animation which has voice over or dialog. It could also be a great indication for voice over artist so that they know how fast they have to speak...
That's indeed the plan I hope to add that in the next version, but I'm right now in the middle of my movie production so I'm not sure when I'm gonna release it. I hope around NAB late spring
