How do I get the "cross section" type of effect as seen in "A piece of the Grand Canyon"?

    Hi, I have AE CS6 with GEOLayers 1 and Trapcode Mir. I can't open the sample project file, but would like to have the same effect, that produces a cut out type of look with the topography of the mountains. Can anyone explain how I can achieve this look? I have everything set up except for the cut off sides of the mir layer.Thanks!
