About the Event

Motion Plus Design is a one day event built around a simple idea: get the people making the most interesting motion work in the world on a stage, and let them talk about how they actually do it. Founded by title designer Kook Ewo, M+D has run editions in Paris, Tokyo, Seoul, and New York.

This year's New York edition brings together directors, art directors, and creative directors working across title design, music video, VFX, mixed media animation, and product design.

The Lineup

Saad Moosajee is a director, designer, and artist based in Brooklyn, building dreamlike, emotive worlds through alternative modes of image making. He has collaborated with Lil Nas X, Thom Yorke, Mitski, Sampha, and Woodkid, alongside Tate Modern, The New York Times, and Broadway's Hamilton, and recently created the visuals for Wu-Tang Clan's final global tour.

Rachel Brickel is an Art Director at Emmy Award winning studio Digital Kitchen, known for blending practical effects with intricate design. Her work includes Clio winning titles for Apple TV+'s Smoke and Manhunt, Emmy nominated titles for TNT's The Alienist, and contributions to Yellowjackets and Yellowstone.

Brian Yoo is a self taught motion designer and visual artist working across 2D and 3D systems, treating motion as a study in control and iteration. He built his approach from the ground up during COVID, learning After Effects through YouTube to make video game montages, and now combines typography, spatial composition, and lighting to explore how simple forms create depth and rhythm.

Danaé Gosset is the Founder and Creative Director of Pencil TV, a mixed media animation studio with an ethereal, hand drawn sensibility. Originally from Paris and a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, she spent two years at Sagmeister & Walsh and a year at Apple before founding her own studio. Her clients include Netflix, Warner Music, Hermès, Apple, and Spotify.

Mehdi Hadi is an award winning director, concept artist, and VFX motion designer recognized for bold visual storytelling and futuristic aesthetics, with projects ranging from game cinematics to title sequences for studios worldwide.

Vallée Duhamel is the Montreal based duo of Julien Vallée and Eve Duhamel, working at the intersection of filmmaking, design, and emerging technology. They blend practical craftsmanship, visual effects, and generative AI to blur the line between the physical and the digital, with work commissioned by Google, Apple, Hermès, Coca-Cola, and The New York Times.

Bhakti Patel is an Emmy nominated multidisciplinary creative director whose career spans film, television, music, and product design. Her work includes visual effects and design for Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok, creative for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and senior design roles at leading tech companies. She is currently Principal Motion Designer at LinkedIn, following roles at Meta, Twitter, and Dropbox.
