The most interesting tools usually come with someone willing to explain the thinking behind them.

Our friends at mamoworld recently published an excellent article in Digital Production, where Mathias Mohl walks through why he built Automation Agent, an AI workflow layer for Adobe Premiere Pro. Currently in private beta.

About Automation Agent

Automation Agent is built around a simple idea: give an AI agent enough real context about your Premiere project that it can handle the tedious prep work, and keep it away from the creative decisions.

That means the work around the edit. Finding repeated takes, checking transcripts, mapping spoken content back to source clips, dropping markers, building review sequences. Mathias is upfront that automatic editing was never what he was going for.

"The important word is not AI. It is context."

He makes the case that a model reading a transcript is nowhere near enough, because "a professional edit is a network of relationships, not a long text document with B-roll attached." The article then gets into how he built around that, how permissions are scoped, and where he thinks this goes next.
