Quick question about 3D Text layers and Plexus. I've seen some of the great Plexus video examples, and have been trying to achieve one thing in particular that im struggling with. I've got a bunch of 3D text layers and a solid layer with Plexus applied. I've applied the points and lines renderers, set to only generate points from prefixed 3d AV layers (my 3d text) - now i want to rotate the point cloud, but want the text to always be facing the camera. How does the workflow go here - i can move the 3d text layers around in 3D space, but theres quite a few of them and seems a bit tedious. I can rotate the point clod too - but the text layers don't stay anchored to the points - whats the best approach for this?
Sorry - also, how do groups work, not very well explained in the manual.
Groups allow you to have effectors and renderers only affect some of the geometry in your Plexus. You simply assign any geomertry object to be in a specific group (they are all in group 1 by default) and then in the effector and renderer set the 'Effect Only Group' pulldown to be the group you want it affect.
Thanks Lloyd. Any idea as to how I keep text layers anchored to the plexus point cloud - so that when I rotate the cloud, the text layers move too, but are always facing the camera.
If by any chance you still check this post after all these years, here something that can work: you can apply an 'Auto Orient' expression to your text layers http://www.motionscript.com/design-guide/auto-orient-y-only.html (You can also apply it to the Y rotation of a null and make t drive the text by parenting the Y rotation of the text layers to the rot. of the Null)
