After a long period of work, I finally managed to complete the update for the VariText plugin for Cinema 4D. According to user feedback, the main issue with the plugin was not the plugin itself, but rather the lack of design in many variable fonts. The problem lies in the fact that font designers use certain tricks when defining the shapes of glyph curves that are supposed to smoothly change during interpolation. As a result, the Bézier curves that form the contours of the glyphs begin to intersect. While this is generally not a problem for rendering an image, it becomes completely unacceptable when trying to generate a spline and a 3D object through extrusion. The latest update to the plugin resolves this issue in 95% of cases.
Thanks for the response! I still have a problem where the new font added wont recognize all its features. On a test I did only appear the Width setting, for example, and didnt show the weight one. Do you know what could cause this problem? (And yes, the font has other settings as weight, slant and etc)
Can you send me your font file to check? You can open new support ticket for that.
