  • Hi Matias,

does it help if you increase in the Premiere Pro Preferences in the tab "Timeline" the "Default Image Duration"?

  • Hello thanks for your quick answer! I changed to 8 sec and 15 sec but still the problem.
I cant attach here the screen shot now, Many thanks for your help!

  • Hmm, not sure what the issue is exactly (it is an issue of Premiere Pro's Automate to Sequence feature, so BeatEdit has no influence on it). But this thread at least describes a workaround:

  • Hi there.
I don’t quite understand the way the plug-in set the markers colors: it looks to me very random.
I would like to choose the color myself and not automatically.
    Thanks,
    Alessandro.
  • Hi Alessandro,
BeatEdit loops through all 8 colors available in Premiere Pro and the colors have exactly the same order as in the marker panel. In the marker panel, you can click on the colors to change their visibility. That means you can quickly disable the visibility of some markers to only see every 4th or every 8th beat, for example. See attached screenshot.

  • Doesn't load in premiere pro 2024 but works in premiere pro 2022
  • Hi Matsu,

BeatEdit is compatible with Pr 2024. If it does not open, it is most likely this issue:

  • Loving the tool so far! I ran into an issue where I set up some markers as per the tutorial, decided to change how many markers/beats to generate, and now it is stuck on "processing, please wait..." in the toolbar. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks!
  • Hi Timothy,

In Premiere Pro, scripting tasks cannot be canceled, unfortunately. Therefore, if BeatEdit runs a script to generate markers, it switches to “processing, please wait…” until the marker generation finished. After marker generation, it should go back to the normal UI where you can remove the existing markers and create new ones.

If the marker generation takes very long (and hence the “please wait…” takes quite some time), see this video:

  • Hello Mathias,

I would like to create only one color for the brands. Furthermore, is there a possibility to specify the accuracy of the frequency?

  • Hi Aaron,
thank you for your feedback! With the current version 2.2 of BeatEdit, you can only create colored markers. Usually, this is very helpful, since it allows you to spot every 4th or 8th marker quickly or even deactivate the visibility of everything except every 4th marker (in Premiere Pro's marker panel, you can deactivate visibility for each marker color individually by clicking on the color swatches). If you really need just one marker color, the only option is to install the earlier version BeatEdit 2.1.001

What do you mean with frequency? Currently the quantization assumes integer numbers, i.e. 80 or 81bpm, but not 80.5bpm. Both the deactivation of marker colors and the support of something like 80.5bpm are on my feature request list, so they might come in future updates.

  • Any word on .mp4 support? It's not high priority (easy to transcode the video audio to a file) but it's also not totally clear that this plugin doesn't support a file containing playable audio like .mp4 so they may wonder for an hour why their plugin is broken. Just a thought, have a nice day :)
  • Hi Ralph,

thank you for your feedback! This is definitely on our radar. The current implementation relies on features of Adobe's extension framework CEP and we support all audio types they support out of the box. Adobe is currently switching from CEP to UXP and I am confident that with that change we can add mp4 support in future releases. BeatEdit for DaVinci Resolve supports mp4 already.

  • Hello, I just purchased the other day, so I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended behavior. I'll file it under feedback/feature request for now. The subdivide beats only applies to the entire song, not the highlighted area. I have a very percussive track that I would like to add quarter note markers to during some drum rolls. However, I believe the only way I can accomplish this is by setting a work area on the timeline, then removing and adding markers for each occasion. It would be much easier if this could be applied only to a highlighted area within the extension rather than going back and forth. Currently running the latest version of the extension and Premiere Pro. Thanks, it's been fun to play with so far!
  • Hi Patrick,
thank you for the feedback, this is a very good feature request!
Currently, the subdivision only works for the entire song. Of course, you can first subdivide and then select every 2nd beat in some regions to "undo" the subdivision in these areas. But I see that this means a few extra steps.

  • Would it be possible to have it detect and mark peaks? I saw your video explaining the whole beats science but for my kind of editing, having the peaks being detected and marked would be very useful.
  • Hi Sven,
with the "add extra markers" feature, you can detect other peaks in the waveform and with the "amount" and "musical" sliders you can control which peaks exactly you want:

  • I'm having an issue where the song won't load in the Beat Edit window. The song is highlighted in the timeline. I've tried multiple songs. Nothing.

I'm running the latest version of Premiere v.25 on a Mac w/ Sonoma 14.6.1

    Please help.
  • Hi Alan,

this is usually one of three things:
    (A) make sure to really select the audio file in the active sequence (and not in the project panel or a bin of the project)

    (B) Make sure to select an audio file (like wav or mp3), not a video file.
Unfortunately BeatEdit only supports audio files but not loading audio data directly from video files. If your music is part of a video file, what you can do is
    1. export a wav file from your video file (Export it with Premiere Pro or Media Encoder and choose “Waveform” as format)
    2. import the wav file in your Premiere Pro project
    3. load the wav file in BeatEdit

    (C) If you remix a clip, Premiere Pro replaces the audio clip in the timeline by a different kind of clip, such that BeatEdit cannot “see” the audio file anymore. That's why BeatEdit cannot load remixed clips.
    Solution:
After you remixed a song, you can right-click on the remixed clip in the timeline and choose “Render and Replace…”. Then Premiere Pro will turn the remixed song into a normal audio file again and you can load this file into BeatEdit as usual.

  • I can't seem to get Beat Edit to open since the premiere 25 update. The tab was open but it was blank when I clicked on it. I closed premiere, uninstalled beat edit and restarted. I then reinstalled it and now it won't open a new tab/window. I'm on Windows 11. Thanks for any help!

  • Hi, I just bought this but the ZXP installer says it is not compatible with Premiere 2025.
  • Hi Rex,

it is definitely compatible with Pr 2025.
Please try to use the manager app for installation:

If this does not help, please open a support ticketPlease open a support ticket at
and describe there as details as possible (best with screenshots) what error messages or other issues you see.

  • Windows. Premiere Pro v25 (latest version). After I install the trial, and restart, nothing happens when I click on Extensions -> Beat Edit. No window or tab opens. Nothing. So essentially this doesn't work?

I've followed all instructions as others were suggested below to no avail. It just doesn't work at all.
  • Hi Thai,
    see here for a solution:
For the latest Premiere Pro, make sure that debugging is also enabled for CEP 12, since Adobe just upgraded to CEP 12.
