I see that copying and pasting masks and paths is slated for future releases. Please hurry! Figma to AE is complete misery without decent conversion tools. Also, see if you can figure out how to strip out bitmaps in the process. It'd be great to have a script that sidesteps all the labor of dismantling Figma PDFs-just something that copies everything (suipported in an SVG file) from a Figma frame.

You're right. I also think it would be very convenient if there was a script to help disassemble Figma PDF files

There's a new update available that strips raster images and gradients so the extension shouldn't break anymore if those elements are present in the meantime.

I am SOOOOO excited to see someone working on another conversion tool from Figma to AE. We haven't had anything proper enough to this day, so I really appreciate your work, Sergio. However, if it could keep the text-related properties editable instead of converting them into shapes, I'd be more than happy to pay triple. I desperately need tools like that. Please, please, please consider.

Editable text support is in the works and should be coming soon!

Thanks for creating this script! Just checking if it will keep the group when pasting the object to After Effects in the future version. Currently it's just split all the shapes to different layers in After Effects. Thanks!

How can i enable the editable text function? I've checked it on in in the panel window, but i can't seem to get any text from figma to be pasted in as an editable text.

Hi Nicolai, unfortunately Figma exports text as outlines by default, so in order to copy editable text you need to follow these steps: https://www.sergioribero.co/toothpaste/guide/#editable-text-from-figma

Hey I have the problem that on some objects there is no color when I paste in the SVG from Illustrator. The shape properties one is missing, so there is no way to color it in except pasting it in from another shape object. I think it has something to do with pasting in groups instead of a singular object.

Otherwise this plugin is really cool and will probably save me a ton of work!

Hey! Could you submit a ticket with a copy of the SVG code you're getting from Illustrator? You can paste the code on a text file, that way I'll be able to inspect it more closely.

Is there a ZXP extension bypass? I work for a big company where I'd have to get a long approval process to have zxp installed. I know for example AEUX there is a manual install using CEP folder

Hi Alex! There's currently no way to bypass the ZXP install process, but I'll look into supporting an alternative method for these use cases in future releases.

Can I export using vector elements from the Inkscape program? I've tried doing it via clipboard, but it doesn't work for me. Toothpaste requires to paste the code, however in Inkscape I don't think there is an option to copy exactly as code...

Hi, unfortunately as you mentioned Inkscape doesn't offer a way to copy the SVG code to the clipboard. However, a workaround you can try is to export your illustration as an SVG file, open that file in a text editor and copy its contents.

Hi, I used a trial of this plugin a while back. Loved it and I just bought the plugin and installed through the AEscripts app. Window > Extensions > Toothpaste doesn't do anything. Latest AE and Win11, tried un/reinstalling, restarting PC, etc.

Need help ASAP as I bought this solely because I'm in a crunch and don't have time to experiment with other tools.

Any help is appreciated.
