Is there a way to adjust the anchor point of a Kinematic object in Newton?
I'm bringing in a shape layer that has multiple shapes in it and rotates, but when I bring it into Newton the anchor point is not in the center (where it is in my AE comp). It seems to be centered on just one of the shapes within the shape layer, rather than the entire shape layer.
I can use the Anchor Tool to adjust AEmatic objects, but I can't seem to do the same with Kinematic objects. I can't use a AEmatic object for this one because I want this shape to be locked down to my AE keyframes, and even with full AE tension, it sags a little when hit with other objects.
I'm trying to use Newton but I'm experiencing great issues.
First of all if I create shapes and try to open Newton, it tells me "Newton:: error Vector Path cannot be found".
Is that normal?
Then, and this is the biggest issue, I can work properly on Newton but as soon as I push "go to AE" or just try to close the newton window, everything crashes. I read in the forum that it's supposed to be a problem linked to Mocha, but didn't find a patch.
Sorry, I'm quite new on AE, so probably my question is stupid for many of you, but could you please try to help me anyway?
Hi Sebastien, It looks like you're using a very old version of Newton (most likely v1 which was released in 2011, and is not supported anymore). Please upgrade to Newton 2 (there is a free trial version if you want to make some tests before upgrading). Info on upgrading: How to upgrade from Newton v1?
Hi, I have split text and imported it into AE. I want to have the words crumble once triggered in Newton. Problem is when I start the simulation, before the Aematic object triggers the crumbling to start, all the pieces of type explode apart. I am attaching samples of what I am starting with and once inside Newton what happens . Please help. its like they are self triggering. I want the text to look solid so moving the pieces apart before the animation happens will spoil the effect.
Im using Newton 2 with AE CC2014. The shortcuts aren't working for example to select bodies with same colour is C but it does not work for me. I am using a macbook pro. I have tried using command, function and shift keys but nothing works. How do I get them to work please?
Also I have a floor with an object1 and some objects fall from above. I want the object1 to stay on the floor and only move when the falling objects hit it. I have the floor set to static and I have tried all options for my object1 but when I press play I can see my object jump up a little. How do I resolve this. I dont want it to move till the others hit it.
Is there any way to prevent overlap when two bodies collide? Tweaking collision tolerance works when the collision is super slow, but for more forceful collisions, is it possible to say "no overlap" and consider the bodies completely solid/impenetrable?
Has the Mocha Pro issue been solved? I noticed you haven't responded to Lance with your update. I'm crashing everytime I try to use it. I'm also on a computer that restricts permissions to remove/install Plug-ins. I'm also on a project that requires my daily use of Mocha Pro and I'd like to incorporate Newton. Please help.
Unfortunately we haven't find a clean solution to this problem. As a work around, we found that moving "mocha 3D track importer.plugin" from Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-ins>CC (or whatever version you installed) toApplications>Adobe After Effects CC>Plugins seems to fix the conflict. I didn't test it recently though.
So I am making a 2d lotto machine with balls falling down into a open bowl because I couldn't get it to fall into the circle so anyway I got them to fall in bounce around but I need them to spend so I added a a spinner with 3 long arms so as it spins it would push the balls around at least in theory. My question is how to keep the balls from pushing it out of place and for it to keep spinning while coming in contact with the balls. Also the pivot wouldn't work on the object I made.
I don't know if Newton 2 has the ability to do this. ¿Can anyone tell me if it does? Sorry about my english.
I import a PNG file that it's a bowling ball with transparency (corners of the image are transparent) and i make a solid in diagonal that acts like a ramp, so in Newton 2, the ball falls into the ramp and it goes down through the ramp. The problem is that the ball does not roll through the ramp like any circular object, it acts like a square, so Newton 2 is not taking the transparency and disabling the corners in the dynamics.
I send you the image.
So, is there an option to respect transparency in Newton 2?
I'm trying to do something somewhat complex. I've got a string of Christmas lights. Each light consists of 2 images inside its own comp. One image is the light itself. The other image is the glow of the light that flickers. So anyway each of these lightbulb comps is connected to rope that I've created as joints. A few issues I've had is that I've had to move the anchor point of the comp, but when I bring this comp into Newton, it doesn't seem to use that same anchor point as the pivot point. Also when I've created some pivot joints (for each bulb), some of them swing around in circles so easily. Is there a way to put tension on each joint so they're more stiff? Seems like I've tried everything but it doesn't seem to work. I've even tried limiting the rotation, but that doesn't seem to do anything either. Can anyone help with this?
Not working on AE CC 2015, El Capitan. Never got an answer from support either. After installing into plug-in folder, it doesn't show up in the composition menu. Been like this for months.
I purchased Newton 2 during the NAB sale and finally getting around to learning more about it. I tried the shattered text animation but for whatever reason, the dormant objects slightly separate before being hit and scattering. How can I make them be still until they are struck? ...having a blast by the way, this will come in handy once I get a better understanding.
I just purchased N2 with the Mobo Bundle and I'm having a problem. Newton is not recognizing any initial rotation values. For example: I run a simulation of cubes dropping onto a floor and coming to rest. Everything is fine in AE but I want to continue the animation. So I duplicate the comp, mover the CTI to the end of the animation and delete all the keyframes. I bring the composition back into newton to continue and everything appears to simulate correctly inside of Newton, however when I render back to after effects the initial rotation value is not recognized. All of the cubes are reset to zero rotation (in the most literal sense). I am hoping this is an issue with my settings or workflow....as if it is a bug it pretty much renders the plug in completely useless for me.
I am using a trial version of Newton. trying to understand how it works. I was doing a tutorial...the first frame seems fine and the next frame it looks like everything has moved and then gravity works on the object and then it falls to the ground. How can I set the settings to default? I am unable to understand it. Can someone please help.
Ok.
Newton is really great plugin but this doesn't make sense to me. How
is possible that position of the objects after render from Newton are
not the same as before loading them to Newton plugin?

Try replacing the shapes with masks.

Now i have found a bug with the "Fixed rotation" body property that is perfectly reproducible.
How can i upload a zip file here with the AE project and resource images to let you see the bug?
THANKS
How i know if you fix the bug?
THANKS!
Could you please open a support ticket and attach a crash log to your message ?
Cheers

Did you try to lower the collision tolerance in the Solver properties ?
