Floating License Server

    I there were ever an aescript product that that needs a VIDEO TUTORIAL ---- THIS IS IT!

    Please make one. The install document, while chock full of information, is very confusing. The .exe names are also not indicative of their function. I still can't figure out how get a windows server to run as a server.

    Hi, our Studio has no server. We run off of the internet as we are largely remote.

    Does this Floating License Server require a physical server?

    how many users can use the floating license via the FTS at once?

    Is it possible to request a license within the AE script panel?

    Do i need a network render server for this?

    There isn't a limit to how many users can use the server but you must have enough licenses loaded i. the server for your number of concurrent users as each license can only be used by one user at a time. Tools that support floating licenses, both plugins and scripts, are clearly indicated on their respective product pages and you can order a floating license to use with the server. Not sure what you mean by "network render" but you do need to have available port in your network to run the server and clients.     The information could change and this specific question is machine specific so please open a support ticket for assistance.  This is also covered in the instructions included with the server.

    Yeah it's pretty easy saying 'please visit this link if you have additional questions'. It's not that easy for a person with no knowledge of Command Prompt to set up a server like this. Just make a tutorial so we can actually see what we need to do.

    Floating licenses are intended for enterprise or customers with many users where command-line experience is common. Perhaps you would prefer the single user licenses which are much easier for a single user to use.

    I purchased Network Clipboard and for some reason it has switched over to floating network license - it there a way to switch it back to 'single user'?

    Absolutely ridiculous licensing system. Probably the most un-user friendly one I have come across. After getting it working am I now informed that Rowbyte plugins work in a different manner. After contacting support I was just told to look at the PDF which to an After Effects artist makes zero sense.

    Yes, the server is an extremely light weight application that can run on any machine even the same machine AE is running on or on any server along with other server applications.

    How does one update the rlm server? I'm seeing the Version History and I believe our rlm server was built a couple years back but not sure if it updates automatically or is there a file I need to replace. Also having an issue where new FLT Licenses are being ignored, maybe its old?

    We do not support RLM. If you are referring to our Floating License Server you can see the instructions on how to upgrade it on the 'Upgrade or Move Server' section of the setup and usage pdf included with the server download. You can find the download in 'My Downloads & Licenses' of the account you purchased the server from.

    The default license includes one backup server. If you need more than one backup server you would need an additional license. Please see the product page for full details: Floating License Server
