Simulate Realistic Digital Image Glitches with Ease!
Data Glitch is a native After Effects plugin that creates awesome realistic digital image glitches with total ease. Something you would see during a satellite transmission or a cable broadcast or from a damaged disk. Bad TV plugin is great for analog TV look, but this is 2010 and you hardly see anything that’s analog anymore. This plugin simulates a realistic digital glitch effect.
In real-life most of the glitches occur due to problems in encoding/decoding and sometimes data corruption. This plugin does exactly that. It encodes the data, glitches the data and then decodes it similar to the real life situation.
Features:
- Create Awesome Transitions with Ease.
- Compression Artifacts on the Fly
- Create Audio reactive animations with expressions.

Thanks. Been waiting to try this out. Downloading the trial now.
Excellent work! I bet you will start seeing your plugin commercial spots (MTV like spots) shortly!
left an “in” out
Was this used in the titles for The Colony, the show on Discovery?
I really have no idea Jadan.
Ironically, I want more control over the glitchy chaos. Maybe it could be driven by another layer?
I am not sure, how another layer controls the glitch pattern since it is not driven by displacement. May be more control over the glitch color would be possible in the future versions.
yeah, control over color would be ace,,,
like an option of no color change, would be simple but massive addition to this great pluggins.
Any idea if/when this will be added?
I just bought a license for this last night – it looks great and is exactly the kind of error/glitch/interference effect I’ve been looking for.
Thanks!

Sad that this isn’t Pixel Bender and can’t be used at runtime in Flash :’(
Thinking about this plugin for music videos, where did the sound come from? Any chance you’d include those?
Wow great! Gonna buy it the following week
hello, i’m running the trial version.
how can i slow down the speed of the data glitches? i’ts very fast for me.
thanks!
Hello just purchase your plug in.
I create a single solid layer and I add glitch plug in and synchronize it with an audio file.
When I’m rendering my project I get the error message :
After Effects error : crash occurred while invoking effect plug in ”Data Glitch”
I use AE CS3 -Data Glitch 1.1 on Win 7 64bit and i7 cpu (as I see above you did a fix for i7 cpu’s).
Its important for me to get an answer as my client will need a final work from me.
Thank you.

HI SATYA,
I just got your wonderful DATA GLITCH PLUGIN…
I’m in need of your help.
I am working on applying your PLUGIN to STILL IMAGES. I see that the effect varies greatly from the preview when viewed in THIRD RESOLUTION as to when it is actually exported in FULL RESOLUTION.
Is there a way to capture the effect just as it is shown in the project window when viewed in THIRD of full Resolution ?
Please let me know – some of the coloring effects work better in THIRD res. rather than full res.
THANKS AND GREAT WORK !
Hi Satya and Lex,
This is exactly what I am running in to too.
What is the sollution?
Thanks
Unfortunately, it is not possible because of the way AE supplies the layer image information. When using in Adaptive/Low-res mode AE gives a lower size of the image with low quality setting, but when using in full resolution it supplies a high res image with different settings. There is no way to get the real high-res image from AE all the time and since Data Glitch is based on compression algorithms which depend on the size and quality of the initial image, the end result will always be different. The only possible solution is to render the footage in half-resolution and low quality render settings and upscale it later. Hope that explains the issue.
I’ve bought this effect, but lost it and the email with download link. How do I download it again?
You can retrieve your license here: http://license.aescripts.com. Once you have your license, download and install the ‘Free Trial’ above and use the license to unlock the trial into the full version.
After Effects error: Can’t import file “DataGlitch64.plugin”: unsupported filetype or extension. ( 0 :: 1 ) what do I do about this? I am using CS5.5 and am using a Mac
Sounds like the file is corrupted. Can you re-download the plugin and install it? If you are still facing issues please contact support with your OS and AE version details and we’ll be able to help you. Thank you.
