Simulate Realistic Digital Image Glitches with Ease!
Data Glitch is a native After Effects plugin that creates awesome realistic digital image glitches with total ease. Something you would see during a satellite transmission or a cable broadcast or from a damaged disk. Bad TV plugin is great for analog TV look, but this is 2010 and you hardly see anything that’s analog anymore. This plugin simulates a realistic digital glitch effect.
In real-life most of the glitches occur due to problems in encoding/decoding and sometimes data corruption. This plugin does exactly that. It encodes the data, glitches the data and then decodes it similar to the real life situation.
Upgrade notice: If you bought Data Glitch in the last month (between Feb 04, 2012 and Mar 04, 2012) you can upgrade for free. If you purchased it before Feb 04, 2012 you can upgrade for $29.99. To upgrade, please request an upgrade discount code here.

The definitive collection of scripts and plugins for Adobe After Effects

The trial download does not work… I doesn’t understand! (the download start normaly, but, more or less at 50%, the download crash…)
I need to download this plug as soon as possible for a study project(so the trial version is perfect!), can you help me?
The download link is working for us here but here is another link to the same file to see if it works better for you: http://cl.ly/380K3j2F1e0C0D3q1v0F
Now thats work, i dont know if its came from my connexion or from this link but anyway: thanks a lot!
I have purchased Data Glitch… I downloaded, unzipped, and installed the package file for my Mac. Now how to I apply the plugin? It does not appear in the Window tab of AE where my other plugins are. I can’t even find a .plugin file on my computer. Where did it extract to?a
Nevermind, I totally figured it out.
I installed the trial version on my work computer to show my boss. He wants me to uninstall it for the time being on this one and buy a license on a different computer. How do I uninstall this trial plugin? I looked in the plugin folder and couldn’t find it there
You can remove the Plugin Files directly from
OS X:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/[version]/MediaCore
Win:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\[version]\MediaCore.
When im installing its says cs4 couldnt be located! Please reply asap :C
Is CS4 installed on your system? Please note that unofficial installations (i.e. not installed from Adobe’s Official Installer) are not supported.
hello. I purchased your script (1.1.1) but when I try to install it on my year old macbook pro it tells me “invalid filter” and the 25:3 error message.
I tried the CS5 64bit version, that doesn’t even show up in the effects menu. I tried the CS4 32bit version, which shows up in the effects menu but that one gives that error message I previously mentioned.
what’s up? does the 1.1.1 version work on a 64bit cs5 AE? any way I can fix this error message? I tried google, but it’s only filled with people with similar problems – no solutions.
will upgrading to the latest version (and paying more money..) help?
thank you.
Sounds like a file corruption issue. You can contact support and get new binaries for v1. But I strongly recommend upgrading to v2, using the upgrade discount. You can try out the v2 by downloading the trial version from this page. Make sure to remove older plugin files before installing this version. Let us know if you are still facing issues.
hey…. i have just downloaded the trial version.how can i get the serial key to convert it into full version.
You have to purchase the full version to get the serial.
I noticed that when applying the effect to a precomp made of text layers with different opacities it loses the opacity info from the precomped layers? Do you know of this, or a work around/fix?
Basically I have a precomp that consists of text layers with different opacities. I then apply the data glitch to the precomp layer, all works fine except it loses the opacity information from the layers within the precomp. I tried collapse transformations and preserver underlying transparency. The only thing that works is turning the effect off…?
Can you please send us a sample project?
Thank you.
Wow! thanks for the quick response. I did some further messing around it looks like it sort of shows opacity, but not really. You can see in the example file I made. Sorry, can’t share the actual work file right now so I made a sample file to show the issue. Great great plug in though! Works flawlessly otherwise! File below:

It happens because internally the three channels are alpha composited. So the resultant alpha is always a bit higher than expected alpha. An easy fix is to the start with a very low alpha. We have to do it this way because there is no way splitting alpha channel equally among all the channels.
Ahh, gotcha. Makes sense. Will just use lower Alphas to get the same effect. Thanks for the quick feedback. Great plugins, keep it up!
Great plugin! Works like a champ. The alpha ability is a great addition!
I’m having a problem with its Rect Glitch.
Whenever I disable the Per Channel Random Seed Control of the Rect Glitch it crashes when I start to increase the overall Glitch value.
I’ve tried it both on CS4 and CS5.
I hope this can re resolved.
I have downloaded and bought dataglitch but I can’t figure out how to turn my trial into the official copy, where do I punch in my serial number?
Click ‘Register’ in the Effect Controls Window ( http://aescripts.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Data-Glitch-2-UI-150×150.png ).
AH, thank you so much, I feel like a fool.
I’ve bought this effect, but lost it and the email with download link. How do I download it again?
You can retrieve your license here: http://license.aescripts.com. Once you have your license, download and install the ‘Free Trial’ above and use the license to unlock the trial into the full version.
HI SATYA,
I just got your wonderful DATA GLITCH PLUGIN…
I’m in need of your help.
I am working on applying your PLUGIN to STILL IMAGES. I see that the effect varies greatly from the preview when viewed in THIRD RESOLUTION as to when it is actually exported in FULL RESOLUTION.
Is there a way to capture the effect just as it is shown in the project window when viewed in THIRD of full Resolution ?
Please let me know – some of the coloring effects work better in THIRD res. rather than full res.
THANKS AND GREAT WORK !
Hi Satya and Lex,
This is exactly what I am running in to too.
What is the sollution?
Thanks
Unfortunately, it is not possible because of the way AE supplies the layer image information. When using in Adaptive/Low-res mode AE gives a lower size of the image with low quality setting, but when using in full resolution it supplies a high res image with different settings. There is no way to get the real high-res image from AE all the time and since Data Glitch is based on compression algorithms which depend on the size and quality of the initial image, the end result will always be different. The only possible solution is to render the footage in half-resolution and low quality render settings and upscale it later. Hope that explains the issue.
UPDATE:
This is no longer an issue in v2.0
hello, i’m running the trial version.
how can i slow down the speed of the data glitches? i’ts very fast for me.
thanks!
Wow great! Gonna buy it the following week
Thinking about this plugin for music videos, where did the sound come from? Any chance you’d include those?
Sad that this isn’t Pixel Bender and can’t be used at runtime in Flash :’(
I just bought a license for this last night – it looks great and is exactly the kind of error/glitch/interference effect I’ve been looking for.
Thanks!

Was this used in the titles for The Colony, the show on Discovery?
I really have no idea Jadan.
left an “in” out
Excellent work! I bet you will start seeing your plugin commercial spots (MTV like spots) shortly!
Thanks. Been waiting to try this out. Downloading the trial now.
