This script reverses the direction of selected text layers. This is a common task required when entering or copying and pasting RightToLeft (RTL) languages.
This script also works in Adobe Photoshop (Watch demo video for install instructions). To run it in Photoshop install the script in the Scripts folder which is located inside the Presets folder in the Photoshop app folder.
For Arabic text please use the ArabicText script
Since After Effects is built to work with text that flows from left to right, certain directional animation presets like “Typewriter” don’t work with RTL languages. We can’t re-engineer all of the presets but we will try to do some of the popular ones:
Hebrew users: Check out this tutorial from Eran Stern on an alternative way to enter hebrew into After Effects.

How does it handle intermediate characters?
For Arabic text you should use the ArabicText script
Thnx from all hebrew speaking dudes!!!
I tried out some Arabic copied from Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic:
لا أَتَكَلَّمُ الْعَرَبيَّةَ
The script didn’t work on the medial letters. The odd thing is that the AE layer name keeps the letters intact, but the Comp panel breaks up the cursive into individual letters.
Yes, I am looking into it although it seems to be an AE problem as I am able to display the text correctly in an alert box but then it shows up incorrectly in the comp. Seems to only affect Arabic though, Hebrew seems to work fine.
We published a new script to correctly handle medial letters in Arabic text: http://aescripts.com/arabictext/
Works fine for me in CS5.
