BRAW Studio is comprised of three installed plugins, adding a new .braw
format to be imported to Adobe CC (Premiere Pro, Media Encoder and After Effects).
You can access its Basic Features (importer + Source Settings effect) for FREE, and much more with a Premium license ! More information here.
In Premiere Pro, you can access the Blackmagic RAW params in our brand new BRAW Studio Source Settings Panel (available in top menu : Window -> Extensions). This Panel also provides useful utility and workflow features, for example batch applying parameters changes to many clips at once, extracting Embedded LUT, importing your footages metadata, correcting NTSC timecodes, ...
On After Effects you will be able to use the BRAW Studio Layer Settings effect.
Requirements
- One license is for the same user on up to two computers not used at the same time
- macOS Intel and Apple Silicon : 10.16 / 11 (Big Sur) to 12 (Monterey)
- Microsoft Windows 10 and 11. CPU : at least SSE4.1 instructions set. Most CPUs before 2008 are not compatible (e.g. AMD Phenom II. AMD Phenom II X6 is not compatible !). Compatibility with Intel starts with Core 2 Penryn architecture in 2008.This is a limitation of the BRAW API
- Adobe CC 2019 to 2022 included
Known bugs
- You can't use properly the PrPro Project Manager with .braw files but you can use PlumePack instead
- If you need to use
Replace Clip
feature in Premiere Pro to change one of your source by another, there could be conflicts afterward with the Source Settings (the ISO List could be wrong and the sidecar file will stay to its old path). However, after usingReplace Clip
, you can save your project, close and restart Premiere Pro and everything will be fine. - The same problem than the previous point happens when Copying/Pasting the Source Settings effect from a BRAW file to another on Premiere Pro 2022. If you want to copy BRAW Settings, please use BRAW Studio Panel : there is a Copy and Paste button inside and it can be applied to a multiple BRAW selection.
- Do not save/apply preset on the Source Settings, please read our article about alternative methods
- Adobe timecode bug : Media Start timecode for NTSC footage of 29.97fps is wrong (23.97fps footages also for old Premiere Pro versions before 14.3). This also means you can't export Final Cut Pro XML and import the timeline into DaVinci Resolve properly. Please follow our article to solve this issue
- Please note all those bugs are from Adobe and you will also experience them using Blackmagic's PrPro plugin
How to install : unzip and use the included installer !

BRAW Studio Installer macOS
2.7.11 (Current version) - Nov 23, 2022
- You can run our Install and Uninstaller .exe in command line like this : 'start "Autokroma" /wait /b "InstallerOrUninstaller.exe" /S', for our uninstaller you can pass an argument to specify which product to uninstall like this : '-Uninstall_BRAW_Studio' and/or '-Uninstall_BMD'. Do not forget to run your Terminal as Administrator, otherwise you will need user interaction to confirm the Administrator rights prompt. This also works using Microsoft SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) to automate deployment
- When launching our Installer in recent versions there was a "Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your device ?" yellow popup, now correctly replaced with the good Verified publisher blue popup
2.7.10 - Nov 15, 2022
* Fixed :
- "Add LUT To Sidecar" feature was not working properly on previous v2.7.9
- Convert BMD PrPro Panel : some BRAW Settings were not well converted
* After Effects Layer Settings Fixed :
- Sometimes the BRAW Settings were reset when re-opening the project, it was also affecting the Dynamic Links with Premiere Pro
- Crash when adding the effect on a layer that is not from a .BRAW file
* Our installers will now let you, if needed, abort installing BRAW Studio if you refuse to uninstall BMD plugins so you can choose better when to uninstall those plugins without being forced to
2.7.9 - Oct 27, 2022
- When using the "Add LUT To Sidecar" button in the panel with some kind of LUTs, it could involve immediate crash until the sidecar was removed
- When a .braw is recorded through Video Assist on some Cameras like Panasonic ones, Highlight Recovery can not be modified, and it was involving red errors before
- macOS : "BRAW Studio is damaged and can't be opened" popup when trying to launch Settings and License or inside the PrPro Panel
2.7.8 - Sep 29, 2022
* Apple silicon crash fix
* PrPro Panel Fixed : Merged Clips are now selected when using the "Select All in Project / in Sequence" buttons
2.7.7 - Sep 22, 2022
- Adds support for Fujifilm XH2s Blackmagic RAW clips captured by Blackmagic Video Assist
- Adds adjustable white balance and accuracy for Panasonic GH5S, BGH1
- Improved white balance accuracy for Panasonic S1H, S1, S5, BS1H
* Fixed :
- LUT was always disabled on Media Encoder renders from After Effects
- When switching the first time to "Decode Using : Custom B" in Source Settings in recent versions of Premiere Pro 2022, some dropdown parameters could appear empty
- Instability issues
* End of Support for :
- Premiere Pro and Media Encoder CC 2017 and CC 2018
- Merged Clips on Premiere Pro CC 2019
- Layer Settings on After Effects and Windows : old graphics cards for CUDA Acceleration (all nVidia GeForce GT / GTX 6XX and 7XX, except GTX 780 and GT 730)
2.7.6 - Jun 27, 2022
* PrPro Panel :
- Fixed selection issue with Merged Clips, which were selectable only once per session
- Fixed selection issue when .BRAW file extension was not lowercase

* PrPro Panel :
- Fixed an error which could happen while loading a custom LUT through Sidecar
- Fixed a Red Error popup when exiting Premiere Pro
2.7.2 - May 19, 2022
- New Buttons "Select All in Project" and "Select All in Sequence" to select all .BRAW Clips respectively in the project or only inside the current sequence. This will help you do numerous batch tasks, such as updating / loading all sidecars files, generating all the Merged Clips infos once (saved popup bug) and not later, initializing all the .BRAW clips Source Settings info in case you have lots of .BRAW and you want to avoid BRAW Studio Panel to initialize them later on etc.. Another practical use of this is to batch change Source Settings, for example now you are able to make exports with two different .BRAW color grade with only a few clicks, by storing the first color grade inside Custom A and the second Color Grade inside Custom B
- Prev And Next buttons are not disabled anymore when no clip is selected. They now select the first or last clip in the timeline in that case
- Fixed : a .BRAW setting changed during the processing of another setting change is now reverted in the UI while the first change is processed (happens especially when a lot of .BRAW files are selected and graded)
- Fixed errors with unicode filepaths
* BRAW 2.4 :
- Support for Leica SL2-S .BRAW clips captured by Blackmagic Video Assist
- New Gamma : "L-Log"
2.7.1 - Mar 27, 2022
- Improvement : when a Merged Clip is selected, the project was auto-saved once per Premiere Pro session. Now it has been improved and the auto-saved happens only once per project. So once you got the auto-save popup for a Merged Clip, you will not get it anymore for this .BRAW ProjectItem
- Fixed : when saving Sidecar in Multiple Selection mode, there was only one sidecar updated, now all of them are properly updated
- Fixed : Project Conversion from BMD plugin to BRAW Studio (in the PrPro Panel Toolbox) could be blocked and was never finishing if the Source Settings effect was absent
2.7.0 - Feb 16, 2022
* New Features in PrPro Panel :
- New "Add LUT to Sidecar" button to load your custom .Cube LUT file into the .sidecar file for one or even multiple selected .BRAW Files, so that the LUT will be loaded and processed through the official BRAW SDK
- New "Export Embedded LUT" button to export the Embedded LUT to a .Cube file, useful to apply in another color grading software
- On each line of a BRAW Setting, a new reset icon-button that resets the param to its Camera Metadata value (the value sets when shot or from the .sidecar)
- New button in the ToolBox tab to convert a BRAW Studio Project to a Blackmagic Design PrPro Plugin Project in case you rather need to work with the BMD Plugin and switch plugins. Note that the Source Settings params will not be translated, but the project should be stable. Never force convert a project ! Always use our conversion tools to be safe. BRAW Studio already supported converting from a BMD Project, so now it supports both ways
* New Feature in Premiere Pro : You can now choose the Color Space in the Interpret Footage Settings of your .BRAW Project Item, making HDR .BRAW editing possible !
* Fixed :
- PrPro Panel "Redo" button was not updating the Panel UI in some cases
- PrPro Panel "To Src Monitor" button was not working in some cases

* After Effects 2022 v22.1 BETA supports Apple silicon : our Importer is already compatible, but not our Layer Settings. Please launch AEfx in Intel mode in the meantime : https://www.autokroma.com/blog/Apple-Silicon-ARM-M1-Compatibility-with-Adobe-Creative-Cloud-Autokroma
